Ash Wednesday Service

 Ash Wednesday: The first day in Lent, which occurs six and a half weeks before Easter. Some churches have Ash Wednesday services in which ashes from burned palm leaves are placed on the forheads of clergy and laity as tokens of mourning and penitence.
